Does Kickapoo Have Bingo?

Kickapoo Indians live in the Kickapoo Hills of eastern Kansas. They are one of the five tribes of the Osage Nation.

The Osage are a Siouan-speaking people who lived in Missouri and Arkansas before their Removal to Oklahoma in 1838.

Today, Kickapoo people live on the Kickapoo Indian Reservation in Johnson and Miami counties, Kansas. The tribe has a population of about 1,500 members.

There is no tribal casino, and no commercial gambling activity is permitted on the reservation. However, there is a bingo hall on the reservation. Bingo was introduced to the tribe in 1974 by a Catholic missionary.

At first, only men played bingo, but women began joining in 1987. Today, bingo is played by both men and women at nearly all of the tribal meetings and social events.
