Is Bingo Always 5×5?

Bingo is most commonly played as a 5×5 game, in which each player gets five cards. The player with the highest number on their card groUPS them together and offers them as a “bingo” ticket to the next player. If a player has a number two through six on their card, they can “bingo” off of the group and keep the ticket. If a player has a number one or seven on their card, they must offer it to the next player, who then “bingo’s off” of their ticket.

The next player then offers a new bingo ticket to the previous player and so on. The game is over when one player has no more tickets left.

There is some debate about whether or not Bingo is always played as a 5×5 game. Some purists believe that games with more than five cards should not be classified as Bingo, because it doesn’t accurately reflect how the game is traditionally played in many countries around the world.

Others believe that any game that uses five cards or more is properly classified as Bingo, regardless of how many cards are used. There is no right answer to this question – it depends on which definition of Bingo you use!.
