Is Bingo Legal in Massachusetts?

When it comes to gambling, the state of Massachusetts is decidedly mixed. On the one hand, you have the state’s longstanding prohibition of lotteries and casinos.

On the other hand, you have the recent legalization of bingo in select locations.

So is bingo legal in Massachusetts? Officially, yes. In fact, the state has a long history of tolerating gambling, dating back to the early days of Massachusetts Bay Colony. However, there are some caveats. First and foremost, bingo is not allowed in any form of casino or lottery operation.

Secondly, bingo is only legal in licensed locations – in other words, places that have been approved by the state. Finally, bingo is not allowed to be played for money or anything else of value.

So while bingo is legal in Massachusetts, it’s not exactly easy to find a location that offers it. And while it’s technically legal to play for money on occasion, it’s generally not something that people do in Massachusetts.

In short, while bingo may be legal in Massachusetts, it’s not exactly a popular pastime – at least not among those who live here.
