What Do They Call Bingo in Spain?

Spain is known for its flamenco and bullfighting, but what about bingo? In Spain, bingo is known as “bingoleta.” Bingoletas are small, round, cardboard boxes with a number of squares imprinted on them. Players either put a number in each square or draw numbers from a bowl. Bingo is played in social gatherings such as birthday parties or Christmas Eve dinners.

The object of the game is to collect as many cards as possible with the same number on them. Bingo players can win prizes such as gift certificates or cash. Some people also play for money to help finance their gambling habit. In Spain, bingo is considered a social game and not a gambling activity.
