When Did Bingo Start in the UK?

The origins of bingo are unknown, but it is thought to have originated in the1600s in France. It spread to England in the 1800s, where it became popular among working-class people. Bingo was first played in public halls, but by the early 1900s it had also started to be played in private homes. In the 1930s, bingo became an established part of British culture and was widely accepted as a fun and beneficial pastime.

The popularity of bingo continued to grow throughout the 1940s and 1950s, and by the 1960s it had become one of the country’s most popular leisure activities. In 1977, the UK government legalized bingo as a form of gambling and made it available at all licensed gambling establishments. Today, bingo is enjoyed by people of all ages and is considered an important part of British culture.
