Where Did the Term Bingo Wings Come From?

In the early 1900s, a type of gambling game called Bingo was popular. The game involved players getting cards with numbers on them, and then calling out the numbers on their card as they placed them in a designated area on the bingo board.

If a player called out the number “bingo”, they won that round of the game. .

Some people began to call this type of gambling game “bingo wings” because players would often place their arms in the air while calling out the numbers. Eventually, this term was shortened to simply “bingo”, and is now commonly used to refer to any game involving numbers (e.g.

poker, mah-jongg).
