How Did Bingo Smith Get His Nickname?

Bingo Smith was born in 1907 in Missouri. He was a boxer and had a reputation for being one of the hardest punchers in the sport. In 1935, Smith moved to Hollywood and began working as a stuntman and actor. He eventually landed a role in the movie “Punch Out!” as Bald Bull.

Smith’s performance in the film led to him being given the nickname “Bingo” by director John Lasseter. The name stuck and is now commonly used to refer to him. Bingo Smith died in 1988.
