Who Says Bingo Bongo?

Bingo Bongo is a musical group from Los Angeles, California. The group consists of vocalist/guitarist Alex Kapranos, drummer Michael Shrieve, bassist Scott Metzger and keyboardist Jesse Hughes.

The band’s self-titled debut album was released in 1999 and spawned the singles “Ike Ike” and “King of the World”. The band toured extensively in support of the album, playing intimate venues as well as larger venues such as the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco.

The band’s second album, entitled “Bingo Bongo Dolls”, was released in 2002. The album featured a more psychedelic sound with elements of funk and rock.

The album spawned two singles, “Istanbul (Not Constantinople)” and “Dance Dance Dance”. The band toured extensively in support of the album, playing smaller venues as well as headlining concerts.

The band’s third album, entitled “Bingo Bongo vs. the Moon”, was released in 2006. The album featured a more experimental sound with elements of electronica and dancehall.

The album spawned two singles, “Hollywood” and “Crazy Sexy Lady”. The band toured extensively in support of the album, playing larger venues as well as smaller festivals around the world.

In 2013, Kapranos announced that Bingo Bongo would be breaking up after ten years together. Kapranos has since released two solo albums and is currently working on a new Bingo Bongo record.
